Help Keep My Friend Alive

Hi the wonderful Twitter people of the twitter universe!

giphy

Some of you (Well, most of you if you are here) know me. I’m a fiction author who has been fairly active on twitter via contests, groups, discussions for about 2 years now. A lot of you know me from our conversations, query swaps, and etc.  But now I’m coming to you for help, in any way you can give, in something not writing related.

This is my friend Sarah. Say hi.

Long story short, Sarah is trans identifying and stood up for what she believed in at her organization. Due to shitty employment laws in her state, she was fired nicely. For many of us, being fired sucks. For most of us, it REALLY sucks, but as many of you know (if you’re in touch with any statistics) for trans-people who are fired, lack of employment not only is a ripple effects for many other issues, it becomes that much harder to get a job again.

And that’s what’s happening now.

Sarah has great friends who have been willing to help out with medication, food, rent, transportation but help is only short term and that term is running out.

So what can you do?

Any help you can give would be super appreciated. Help, to me, comes across any way. A share on your Facebook account, a share on your twitter social media, a post on your blog, forwarding this in an email to friends and family, mentioning it to your group of friends, or even donating money to the Youcare link above. Sarah is aiming for about 2500. So far she has 500, leaving 2000 or so remaining.

I’m not going to tell you how to help, again, every form of help you can spare, even if that’s just time, really helps. But if each of us donates even just 1 dollar (well, 2 dollars with the You promise 1 dollar additional fee per transaction) and a share, her life could greatly change.

I’ve seen the awesome work twitter has done before, and I know this is an awesome community so thank you–for even taking the time to read this. It means a lot.

And let’s be thankful for what we have.
